47 translators, interpreters and representatives of translation and interpreting companies based in Donetsk, Donetsk region, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Kamyanets-Podilsky, Kyiv, Lutsk, Lviv, Makiyivka, Nikopol, Odesa, Simferopol, Uzhgorod, Feodosiya, Chernivtsi, Kherson and Kharkiv took part in the seminar.

Improving competitive ability of translation and interpreting services.

The program of seminar was intense and diverse. Since the very beginning, the Organizing Committee has decided to expand the seminar subjects by enabling every participant to have their say on the matters, which, in their opinion, deserve discussion at the national level. As the seminar brought together virtually all representatives of translation and interpreting sector from the leading scientists to experienced practicing translators and interpreters, senior officials of translation and interpreting companies and editors, the discussions were devoted to various aspects of translation and interpreting: (1) foreign experience of operations organization in translation and interpreting companies and market development trends in translation and interpreting services; (2) tools optimizing day-to-day work of translators/interpreters and practical aspects of translation; (3) competitive ability of translation and interpreting services; (4) methods for translation and interpreting quality improvement; (5) professional development of translators/interpreters.

This year, over 60 representatives of translation and interpreting from Vinnytsya, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhya, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kamyanets-Podilsky, Kyiv, Lutsk, Lviv, Odesa, Ostrog, Simferopol, Uzhgorod, Kharkiv and Khmelnytsky took part in the seminar. The geography of the seminar participants was not limited to Ukraine. At this Ukraine-wide seminar of translators and interpreters, National association of Russian translation and interpreting companies (NAPCOM) was represented by Oleksandr Potyekhin, Director General, Glagol Group, Moscow, who delivered a presentation on the prospects of translation/interpreting business development in Russia and factors affecting its competitive ability.

Two sectional meetings were held in the framework of the seminar: 1) Improving competitive ability of translation and interpreting services and efficient operations organization in a translation and interpreting company and 2) Practical aspects of translation and interpreting. Sharing the experience.
